Dr. Lori Rakes | Dean of the School of Education
Who doesn’t want to make a difference in the lives of individuals with whom one interacts on a regular basis? Our Florida Southern College School of Education students and graduates certainly do, and it is evident through their accomplishments – big and small – each and every day!
The School of Education has been “On the Move!” through its data-driven decision-making for program enhancements and improvement, to build partnerships within and across the community, and to maintain and extend accreditation for our programs, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality for all our students.
Our students and graduates continue to positively impact children, families, schools and school districts, higher education institutions, and other organizations locally, across the state, and nationally.
Our undergraduate teacher preparation programs recruit and prepare educators for elementary and secondary education teaching positions in Florida and beyond. Education majors experience engaged learning in the FSC classroom and through our numerous resources and programs on campus, guided by outstanding College faculty who themselves have a passion for teaching and learning. Undergraduate education majors spend hundreds of hours throughout their programs observing and working with young learners in our partner district’s PK-12 school settings under the mentorship of highly effective practicing teachers, as well as in our own Roberts Academy and Early Childhood Learning Lab on the FSC campus.
Students and graduates of our masters and doctoral degree programs are leaders in their organizations and mentors for others. We are proud of their accomplishments and that these educational leaders are able to have such a positive impact on others as FSC alumni.
FSC programs are making a difference in others’ lives every day! Thank you for joining us on this Giving Tuesday 2024 as partners, so together we can continue to have a positive and consequential impact on our FSC students and those they serve in the community.
