Support the Moccasin Battalion - Army ROTC

Since 1951, the Moccasin Battalion at Florida Southern College has developed principled leaders prepared to serve both in uniform and beyond. What began as a traditional Army ROTC program has grown into one of the College’s most enduring leadership pipelines, producing nine General Officers and distinguished alumni serving worldwide.

Cadets pursue their academic degrees while earning a minor in Military Science, building expertise in leadership, military history, and tactical training. The program consistently performs well nationally, with competitive teams excelling in events such as the Army 10-Miler and Ranger Challenge. Cadets also compete for prestigious internships with organizations including U.S. Army Cyber, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the National Security Agency, JAG Corps, and the Army Medical Department.

Your support enhances training, strengthens competitive teams, and expands experiential learning opportunities.

Honoring Major Cody Khork and Lieutenant Charles Rubado

Florida Southern College proudly honors the lives and service of Major Cody Khork ’14 and Lieutenant Charles Rubado ’04, distinguished ROTC graduates who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States. As cadets at FSC, both exemplified the leadership, discipline, and commitment to service that define the College’s ROTC program and the broader Moccasin community.

Major Khork attended Florida Southern College as an ROTC cadet before commissioning as an officer in the United States Army. Known as both an exceptional cadet and a deeply valued member of the campus community, he formed lasting friendships and embraced the full experience of college life while preparing for military leadership. In recognition of his legacy, Florida Southern College is establishing an endowed scholarship in his name. The scholarship will support an outstanding junior or senior ROTC cadet each year, helping cover tuition, room, and board. Selected by the ROTC military leadership, the recipient will represent the same character, dedication, and leadership that defined Major Khork’s life and service.

Lieutenant Charles Rubado, a 2004 graduate of Florida Southern College, likewise embodied the values of duty, honor, and country through his service as a United States Army officer. His commitment to protecting others and leading with integrity reflects the ideals that the ROTC program strives to instill in every cadet.

To honor their memory and ensure their impact endures, scholarship funds have been established in their names. These funds support ROTC students who demonstrate the leadership, service, and excellence that characterized both Major Khork and Lieutenant Rubado.

Gifts made in their honor help educate and develop future military officers, ensuring that the legacy of Major Khork and Lieutenant Rubado continues through the next generation of leaders. Through these scholarships, cadets are reminded that they carry forward the example of those who served before them—leaders defined by courage, integrity, and devotion to country.
